Jordan: New measures in the Social Security Law for militaries

The Jordan Labor Observatory reported that the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Labor and Social Development approved a number of articles of 2019 Social Security Bill.

The Observatory said, quoting MP Abdelmonem Oudet, that the Committee approved the articles after discussing amendments to Jordanian armed forces agents. Among these amendments is the issue of 100% military pay and 75% for service deaths.

The member explained that the committee has added an article that provides the recount of the insured member's pension so that the new act can be applied to all those who have already retired. Thus, the deceased soldier gets a pension of 100% of his salary. He added that the committee had discussed the remarks and proposals received, in writing and orally, concerning the amendments to the bill, with unions, political parties, employers' organizations, and women's societies and movements.
