The draft work permit fee system for non-Jordanians 2019 revealed the government's intention to increase the fees for expatriates in all sectors. According to the project, the employer will have to pay the sum of 2000 dinars for the issue of a daily work permit or for the renewal, for a year or part of the year, of a contract. The draft work permit system for foreigners separated the value of the amounts collected from the employer when issuing work permits for all sectors.
The employer pays the sum of 500d for issuing the permit or when it is renewed (for a year or a part of the year). The apparel and textile companies registered with the Development Zone Investment Board pay 275d.
The employer must also pay 500d for the domestic worker, the gardener, the cook and the small farm workers. The employer pays the sum of 1000d for each additional worker and is not allowed to exceed 5 workers.
The new proposal also stipulates that the employer must pay the sum of 1500d for workers in clubs, night clubs, bars and tourist restaurants authorized by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage. This sum is also obligatory for the massage centers, the beauty and fitness salons authorized by the laws in force.
The employer pays the sum of $ 500 for the issue of a work permit or when it is renewed for employees with specialized skills, provided that the Minister of Labor makes the necessary recommendations to determine the conditions and requirements of the permit without reference to the number or rate of authorized foreign labor.
The employee must pay the sum of 2000d for the issue of a daily work permit or when it is renewed and the sum of 100d for the permit of a new worker who starts in Jordan.
In addition, recruiting offices for foreign domestic workers must pay 100d for each replacement of a foreign worker for the issuance of the first permit and 50d for renewals. The employer pays a fine of 50% of the value of the costs in case of exceeding the deadlines of three months and 100% of the same value if the license is not renewed after six months from the end of the deadlines.
