The social situation of Weir company in the northern oil fields of Rumaila, in the western province of Basra is becoming so tense that the workers went on strike on Friday.
According to trade union sources, the workers complained of insults and ill-treatment, as well as their targeting by the Brazilian director of the company for a long time.
Despite the correspondence addressed to the Iraqi administrations, the situation remains the same, which may pave the way for further possible escalation by the workers, in the coming days.
