The workers of the General Company for Textile and Leather Industries resumed their protests in Baghdad and many other districts to protest again the non-meeting of their demands.
Local media sources said that the protesters raised slogans to ask for their rights and denounce the low wages and the corruption. The protesters addressed a motion with their demands to the three presidencies and to the Ministry of Industry; the most important of which are the unification of the wages’ scale, the cancellation of the societies fusion number 36 of 2016, the payment of the risk premium, finding a solution to the retirement pensions’ cuts (10% taken from the employees and 15% from the society), the tenure and the problem of the housing lands for the workers of the societies of the Ministry of Industry, minerals and leather.
The protesters also demand compensation for workers who were dismissed because of their political opinions, to protect the local manufactures and the consumer et ask the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense to sign contracts with the General Company for Textile and Leather Industries, announcing their refusal of any investments aiming to destroy the local industry.
