A member of the National Coordination of medical, pharmacy and dental students revealed to the “Achkayen” newspaper the agreement reached with the Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Ministry of Health after the mediation of the Ministry of Interior to end the crisis of medical students.
The source, who chose to stay anonymous, said that “the Moroccan Medical Students’ Coordination’s representants met several times with the ministry of Interior who provided a positive mediation”, adding that everyone became willing to find a solution to the issues of medical students and valuing this “serious mediation”
The anonymous member affirmed that a committee is to be established with members from the Ministry of Finances, the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research and medical professors and students. The committee should start working very quickly to find a satisfactory answer to the demands and sustainable solutions to the medical teaching in Morocco; it shall work until December.
The students have been denouncing the bad trainings they are receiving, the overcrowded training centers and the lack of university professors who left public universities to private ones, which makes it urgent to protect the public universities.
