Mauritania : A protest rally to ask for the liberation of arrested journalists.

Dozens of journalists rallied on Thursday morning in front of the relevant ministry to protest against the arrest of Ahmedou Ould al-Wadea and Seydi Moussa Camara who has been arrested for days before being released on Wednesday afternoon.

The protesters shouted slogans denouncing the intimidation of journalists, their unjustified incarceration and the shutting down of Internet for more than ten days.

Media sources reported protesters lifting the photos of Wadea and Camara and slogans to demand freedom and asking for the support of international and national instances of journalism and human rights against the permanent violation of their rights.

Many Mauritanian medias institutions’ directors denounced the arrest of Wadea saying it is revengeful and unjustified.

Journalists expressed their support for Wadea saying that he is known for his integrity and patriotism and that his writings show his commitment to his country and its issues.
