Amnesty International: The massacre of the military junta has completely jeopardized the confidence of the Sudanese people

Amnesty International called on the international community to impose targeted sanctions on the members of the Sudanese transitional authorities, who are responsible for the violent attacks on the peaceful protesters.

In its statement, Amnesty International called also for the immediate cessation of the violent attacks by the "rapid support forces" and other security forces against the demonstrators and to hold accountable all the responsible for these brutal attacks.

"Many of those who were attacked this morning were asleep when the rapid support forces and other Sudanese security services launched a violent attack," said Sarah Jackson, Amnesty International's deputy regional director for East Africa, the Horn, and the Great Lakes. Moreover, she pointed out that through this violent attack "The Transitional Military Council has completely destroyed the confidence of the Sudanese people and crushed the hopes of the people in a new era of respect for human rights and respect for the right to demonstrate without fear."

The Central Sudan Committee of Doctors announced that more than 100 people have been killed since Monday during the process of disbanding of the strike, before the General Command of the Armed Forces’ headquarters, in Khartoum.
