CAF Champions League Final: The Tunisian syndicate of journalists and their Moroccan counterparts call on the journalists of both countries to be more professional

The Tunisian syndicate of journalists and the National Union of Moroccan Journalists called on the Tunisian and Moroccan journalists to " stay calm, rationalize and meet the professional conditions that require the mutual respect between the two peoples."

The two unions issued a joint statement, following the dangerous media clashes, especially on social media by some journalists and social media activists in Tunisia and Morocco, regarding the recent decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on the Esperance and Wydad match in the Champions League Final.

The Moroccan and Tunisian unions called on the media in the two countries to work on addressing these deviations, as required by the ethics of journalism, expressing their denunciation of the attempts to politicize a football match that brought together two ancient sports clubs of two neighboring countries.

The Champions League Final, which was held by the Esperance and Wydad, was suspended before its end, following the Wydad's refusal to continue the match as the referee did not count their scored goal.

Following a complaint by the Moroccan Football Federation, the African Football Confederation (CAF) issued a decree to cancel the match and withdraw the trophy and medals from Esperance, sparking a wave of resentment and criticism that turned into a war of words between the fans of the two teams involving media, bloggers and journalists.
