The Sudanese Central Committee of Doctors confirmed the increase in the number of the strikes’ victims, in front of the army headquarters in Khartoum, which exceed 30 martyrs. The United Nations, Washington, Paris and London condemned the use of force and called for an investigation and for the accountability of those responsible for this operation.
The Alliance of Freedom and Change Forces announced the suspension of all political contacts and negotiations with the military junta and called the “Sudanese professionals Association" to enter in "total disobedience", yesterday.
The committee added that it is likely that the number of martyrs will increase, as the actual number of fatalities is not finalized.
The United Nations condemned this operation, considering it as "brutal" repression and called for the formation of a government led by civilians, which was also recommended by France and Britain.
Hundreds of martyrs and wounded were victims of the strike’s disperse, which lasted for one week, in front of the army headquarters in central Khartoum, which has been a focal point of protests, since the overthrown of President Omar al-Bashir in April.
The leaders of the protest movement confirmed the continuation of their movement, until the overthrow of the military junta, through strikes and civil disobedience.
On the other hand, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the use of excessive force by the Sudanese security forces to end the strike in Khartoum and called for an independent investigation regarding the deaths caused as a result of the use of violence.
Guterres expressed his "grave concern" regarding the reports that reveal that the security forces opened fire inside a hospital in Khartoum.
