Many public workers in the education and health sectors were surprised by huge cuts in their salaries for May 2019. The amounts ranged between 600 dirhams ($ 61) and 1 400 dirhams ($ 144), because of the workers’ strike in the two sectors, during the past period.
the workers' strike, which is still locked in the parliament, raises the issue of the legitimacy of the government’s action. The victims may decide to escalate through issuing lawsuits before the administrative courts.
It is noteworthy that this decision was a procedure approved by the government of Abdel-Ilah Benkirane by an orderly decree, in order to prevent the employees and unions from resorting to strike.
