The outrage of the Port Sudan workers in Sudan: Poor working conditions, low salaries and pending professional situations

Port Sudan is witnessing a period of tension and anger due to the administration non-adherence to its promises to settle the temporary workers’ situations, who resorted to the launching of open-ended protests.

According to the Sudanese newspaper, "Al-Jarida", more than 3000 workers launched a strike in front of the Presidency of the Maritime Ports Authority headquarters, two weeks ago, to ask for their appointment and the issuance of an official decision by the current director of the port, instead of the recent decision, which was announced by the administration.

The newspaper confirmed that the decision was not official, but was a misleading statement, that is intended to discourage the workers from protesting and ask for their rights.

Moreover, it pointed out that the protesters are adhering to their demands and insisting to continue their protests, until their demands are met as they have been working for years, in very miserable conditions and with poor salaries.
