The cabinet approved on a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 213 of 2017 on the issuance of the Trade Union Organizations’ Law and the protection of the trade union right. The amendment allowed the employees of any establishment to form a trade union committee with at least 50 members. Moreover, it allowed the establishments with less than 50 workers to join the other workers from different works or professional groups or similar industries; their number has to be at least 50 members, in accordance with international standards.
The amendment also stipulates that the establishment of a general union shall be composed of at least 10 trade union committees with a membership of at least 15 thousand workers. The establishment of the trade union shall be composed of no less than 7 trade unions with a membership of at least 150 000 workers.
