The management of Al-Khuttaf Paper Manufacturing Company, located in the governorate of Sfax, expelled 12 workers and unionists in a flagrant violation of the law and the trade union right.
According to “Al-Chaab,” the Tunisian newspaper, the administration has been deliberately absent from all the reconciliation sessions held under the supervision of the regional authorities, in a complete disregard of the state's prestige and the law, declaring its strange commitment to starve workers and displace their families.
This made the Tunisian General Labour Union’s subsidiary (UGTT) in the province prepare for a 4-day strike, which had been postponed by one week to leave the area for the regional authorities to intervene and resolve the problem.
It is noteworthy that the union party calls for the return of the 12 expelled workers, the review the company’s situation and its provision with raw materials. Moreover, it calls for the respect for the law in the payment of wages and the settlement of the workers’ situations in the National Social Security and collective insurance, in addition to the payment of their dues of 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, as well as the retroactive effect of the increase in wages entitled in 2018.
