Jordan / the Zarqa governorate: The governor prevents the meeting of the oil refinery’s retirees

The Zarqa governor, Mohammed Smiran, rejected the request of the oil refinery retirees to hold a meeting. The decision resulted in deep discontent and resentment among the retirees, who considered it as an unjustified measure, and an attempt to silence the mouth and a violation of the right to meeting.

The pensioners asked the Interior Minister to intervene against the governor's decision, which they described as arbitrary, especially that they are only asking for a consultative meeting among themselves. A formal request has been submitted in this regard, in the meeting agenda and its location.

According to Jafra News, reporting a number of the refinery’s retirees , the latter have been meeting to discuss their living conditions, where their meeting aims to develop a way to ask for their end of service, as the law did not compensate them retroactively, especially that the total of those affected by this resolution amounts to about 1600 retirees.

They pointed out that the law grants them the right to hold the meeting, in case they inform the administrative governor, and this is what they did, but they were surprised by the decision in refuse of their meeting, without giving any reasons and without having discussion with them, asking the Minister of the Interior to review this issue and implement the law.
