The Secretary-General of the General Confederation of Mauritania Workers (CGTM), Abdullah Ould Mohamed, nicknamed "Al-Naheh", said that the Mauritanian regime has restored the old police methods by intervening with some policemen in a labour march to withdraw the banners, pointing out that even the previous regimes had not dealt with them with such treatment.
"Al-Naheh” warned in a statement the regime of these actions, considering that this is what led to the current situation experienced by the country.
He added that the police should have been dealing with the organizers of the march instead of their direct intervention, considering that the stop of work witnessed by the National Company for Industry and Mines "SNIM" is the result of these actions.
It is noteworthy that thousands of Mauritanian workers went to the streets of the capital Nouakchott to celebrate the May Day, raising slogans calling for better working conditions, lower prices, the maintenance of the workers' rights, the increase in salaries, bonuses and their appointment.
