The Secretariat of the Working women and Children's Union of the General Federation of Iraqi Workers condemned the criminal act of assaulting the lawyer Maha Al-Lami in Baghdad by three people on Saturday, which resulted in her serious injuries, which led her to enter the hospital in a critical and serious condition.
The secretary considered that this is a common scene among the respectable ladies and courageous ones, who are facing the challenges of life, among the patriarchal society that keeps neglecting and excluding women.
The secretary called on the security authorities to immediately arrest the perpetrators and provide the full protection to Maha Al-Lami and all the women who are threatened or physically harmed, calling on the parliament to legislate laws that would protect the society from the abuse of the unwise rulers who think only about their interests.
