The teachers, who have been forced to sign contracts, are expected to return on Monday after the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research’s announcement that they had reached an agreement to suspend the national strike and resume their work today.
The committee of contracted teachers, in a meeting with the Ministry of National Education, agreed to resume work in return for responding to a number of demands and to continue the dialogue on the other points. Meanwhile, many fake reports have been spread on the official Facebook page of teachers declaring "the rejection of all the outcomings of the dialogue and calls for further escalation" , as well as, “the delay of the strike to 16 April".
The National Coordinating Committee of the Teachers, who were forced to contract, issued a statement yesterday, announcing its acceptance of the dialogue outcomes with the ministry until the second meeting on 23 April. It also announced the organization of a national strike on Thursday 25 of this month to study the next steps of the struggle.
The statement stressed that the suspension of the strike was " for the interest of the students, the country and the positive spirit that prevailed in the atmosphere of the first session and to give sufficient time for the ministry's will to resolve the file permanently."
The teachers praised the efforts of the National Council for Human Rights, the National Observatory for Education and Training and the educational unions to contribute positively to the holding of the first formal dialogue session between the academies’ cadres and the Ministry of National Education.
A statement issued by the Ministry of National Education announced that it was agreed to stop all the administrative and legal measures taken against some academic teachers, and to disburse the suspended wages, and to re-study the status of the dismissed teachers.
It was also agreed to postpone the vocational qualification exam to a later date, to give the academic teachers the opportunity to prepare well, and to continue the dialogue on this file, and that the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 23 April.
