The janitors of Casablanca are expected to go on strike on Tuesday, along with a march towards the headquarters of the city council. The strike will continue until Wednesday, in protest against the procrastination of the authorities in the payment of wages and against their dire professional conditions.
The strike comes following the National Union of Territorial Groups and Janitors of the Democratic Confederation of Labour’s call, which asks for the respect of the conditions of the occupational health and safety and the legal transition of the workers, who have entered into a transitional phase after the end of their contracts. Moreover, this agreement did not respect Article 19 of the Labour Code.
The union also criticizes the old shabby fleet of trucks and mechanisms and the non-reforming of the waste sites, which has become a serious threat to the lives of drivers.
