Dozens of workers of the National Cement Company in Al-Tbin area, south of Cairo, organized a vigil outside the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Works Sector in central Cairo, last Sunday to ask for their return to work and the operation of the company’s factories or their compensation because of the damage they suffered due to the government's decision to liquidate the company.
The local media confirmed that the Seventh Circuit of the Administrative Court of the State Council has already scheduled the lawsuit filed by the company's workers to ask for the cancellation of the decision to liquidate the company to a session in April 27.
The case blamed the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Business Sector, as the successive administrations of the company have deliberately sabotaged the company, which suffered heavy losses, resulting in the liquidation of the company and the dismissal of the employments.
The workers of the company have entered into protests against the fake promises of the Minister of Business, Hisham Tawfik, to re-operate the company, prompting the workers to organize a protest in front of the western port on the Corniche of Helwan, in protest against the decisions to stop the company's factories, workers’ early retirement, the reduction in the renumeration.
The company's workers stress that their incentives have been reduced from 390% of the base salary to only 75%, which means that many of them may be imprisoned for not being able to pay their debts to the banks.
The National Cement Company is an integrated complex for the building materials industry in Al-Tbin area of about 876 acres, which is one of the subsidiaries of the Chemical Industries Company. It was established in 1956 under the cabinet decision.
In fact, the number of the workers’ company is about 1700 workers. The company’s administration claims that it has achieved losses after rising the cost of the product because of the rising of the gas prices, while workers announced that they achieved the target of the plan by 112%, and that they were not the responsible behind these losses, as it was because of the cases of corruption and looting by some officials.
