The Jordanian Labour Observatory reported that the management of “Abu Obeidi" in the northern Jordan Valley dismissed 10 employees from the nutrition department on the grounds of their participation in the ceremony to honour their retired colleague.
The observatory confirmed that the dismissal of the nutrition workers came following the Director of Supervision’s request and the oral order of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health. It pointed out that the trade union is asking for the return of the employees to their work, as they have done nothing to get such punishment. It also called on the civil society organizations to stand by the workers until they are taken back to their work.
The union confirmed that it will follow up this issue and that it will carry out escalatory measures, including a strike in front of the Ministry of Health.
