Algeria: The opposition parties and trade unions set a road map to end the political crisis

A group of opposition parties and trade unions in Algeria have drawn up a six-month road map aimed at ending the political crisis in the country, following President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's decision to continue ruling the country.

The opposition Algerian parties and trade unions proposed a road map on Saturday, to find a solution to the political crisis and weeks of protests, which took place because of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's decision to continue ruling the country.

The road map includes the formation of a "presidential body" that runs the country and it is made up of "credible and efficient national figures."

The document also states that the members of the body shall not be allowed to candidate in the upcoming presidential elections or to support any candidate.

These proposals come following a massive protest for the fifth week in a row, in almost all the provinces of the country, asking for the resignation of Bouteflika and his staff, as well as the ruling regime in Algeria.

On Saturday, about 1 000 lawyers dressed in their own uniforms protested in central Algiers to call also for the change of the regime.
