Libya: Random decisions by the Ministry of Education against teachers

On 25 March, the Tripoli Teachers' Union, the Mislata Teachers’ Trade Union, the trade union representative of the "Western Mountain" and the trade union representative of "Al-Ajilat", on the behalf of the other western unions and coordination called for the teachers’ rights from Zliten, Al-Khums, Mislata, Sorman, and Sabrata on behalf of the rest of the coordination.

The meeting was held with the presence of MPs , where the issue of implementing Law No. 4 of 2018 issued by the House of Representatives and its inclusion in the budget of 2019 was discussed, as well as many other issues related to the educational process, including the random decisions issued by the Ministry of Education, the abuses and the failure of the Ministry to provide the basics of the educational process, resulting in great suffering for teachers and learners.

The meeting ended with the support of MPs to the teachers’ rights, who pledged to go to the Presidential Council and pressure it to activate the law and sit with the Minister of Education to question him about the decisions issued by the ministry.
