On March 16th 2019, the Center for Trade Union & Workers Services and the Committee for the Defense of Trade Unions and Labour Rights held a seminar entitled "What do we want from the Labor Law" on the new labour law project, which will be finished soon by the House of Representatives.
The seminar discussed the stages of the draft law in the previous session of parliament before it was withdrawn to introduce a set of amendments to it in favour of the informal employment sector, after that the president pointed to the need to include irregular workers with the required social protection. Thus, just minor modifications were introduced to this law that did not affect the essence of it.
The seminar tackled the set of problems that should be addressed by the labour law, the most important of which is the employment contract and its impact, as well as the problem of employment agencies that have been working for a long time as service companies, training subjects, job security, wages, collective bargaining, union right, arbitrary dismissal and outdated insurance law. This law has some paradoxes including the increase of subscribers’ rate with the decrease in the pensions’ value, as well as the law of trade unions.
