The National Union of Higher Education Employees of the Democratic Confederation of Labour decided to launch a national sectoral strike on Wednesday 20 March 2019.
The National Office of the National Union said in its statement that March 20th, 2019 would be a real test for the judiciary of the country, following the judgments that will be issued in the follow-up of the parliamentary Abdul Haq Hissen, a member of the Confederation’s Council of Counsellors, along with four journalists, in what is known as, the case of “leaking of the work’s ethic procedures of the Parliamentary Fact-Finding Committee regarding the Moroccan Retirement Fund”
In its statement, the trade union body stressed that the follow-up of the adviser, Hissen, and the General Secretary of the National Union, on charges that are not based on a legal basis, is fuelling the hidden conflict between the various parties and the decision-making groups.
The National Office of the union stressed that any rule other than innocence is a deviation that will have a negative impact on the existing political and social situation, condemning the deterioration of the employees of the higher education sector’s situation caused by the chaos of social dialogue and the non-implementation by the ministry of the demands discussed by the union. These demands include the "professional matches”, "promotion standards", “sector workers’ basic system” "structuring of universities", "sending of a note to the deans on the trade union freedoms and trade union dialogue", "promotions according to the diplomas", "double deductions for retirement and national fund for the former social welfare organizations" and "university dormitories’ file". "
The union's statement called on the higher education officials to intensify the attendance at the vigil scheduled to be held in front of the Court of First Instance in Rabat, today, in solidarity and protest against the national writer's follow-up and the human and political apostasy of this unjust trial of the parliamentarian, Abdul Haq Hissen.
