Sudan: More protests calling for the overthrown of Al-Bashir

Hundreds of people protested in Khartoum on Friday after the Friday prayers, in response to the calls of the Sudanese professionals. Moreover, protests also took place in “Al-Gedaref” city.

The protesters renewed their demands about the overthrown of the regime, through peaceful protests, which were dispersed by the police forces’ tear gas.

A protest took place in Berri and Riyadh near central Khartoum, in the Haj Yousif suburb, eastern the Nile and the Kalakala south of Khartoum. The police fired tear gas against the protesters who resisted riot police by throwing stones and burning tires in the streets.

Demonstrations returned in the city of “Al-Gedaref”, 410 km east of the capital Khartoum, which had witnessed similar protests on the second day of the beginning of the first protests on December 20, which coincided with the burning operations of the ruling National Congress Party headquarters and government buildings.

About three months ago, demonstrations have been taken place in the Sudanese capital and other cities against the doubling of the bread prices and then quickly turned into protests asking for the resignation of President Omar Al-Bashir, who has ruled the country for nearly three decades.
