The renewal of the unemployed protests in Basra and the security fires tear gas

The Iraqi unemployed in Basra have renewed their protests, since last Thursday in protest against the lack of services, poverty and unemployment, asking for the dismissing of the governor of Basra and the head of the provincial council.

The protesters stressed in statements to the media that they went out to ask for drinking water, desalination projects, combating unemployment and poverty, as well as providing services. They pointed out that they were surprised by the repression, the use of force, live bullets and tear gas, as well as the following of the protestors from road to road by the riot police.

A number of protestors have been arrested while hundreds of them have been wounded by attacks and tear gas.

It is noteworthy that these protests came as the continuation of the previous protests to ask for the legitimate rights of the citizens and provide them with the minimum services and facilities, as well as their non-marginalization.

In fact, the injury of some protesters who were exposed to tear gas has been confirmed and many others have been arrested.
