The Palestinian researcher Thabet Marwan Al-Khatib accomplished a new medical and research achievement by registering a patent for the development of a new pharmaceutical formulation that affects the neurons and improves their performance in different ways. These combinations may benefit various neurological diseases, notably Alzheimer's disease.
Dr. Thabet, a specialist in Applied Neuroscience, has worked for four years to find out a drug that treats Alzheimer's disease, especially that the illness' reason and treatment are still unexplained.
Her detection, based on multiple researches in the field of neuroscience, allowed her to obtain a patent for a pharmaceutical formulation that improves the performance of neurons that are scientifically known as non-regenerative cells or splits, so infection directly leads to disease or paralysis.
The 27-year-old Khatib revealed that she chose Alzheimer's disease because it is the most common of diseases of the nervous system and its reasons are yet unknown.
The young lady earned her Ph.D. in Applied Neuroscience with an A+ from the Faculty of Medicine at Aberdeen University this year.
