The National Office of the National Union of the Social Development Agency of the Moroccan Workers’ Union called for a strike throughout the week, starting on Monday 25 February 2019 and the boycott of all the activities and meetings called by the Ministry or its partner associations.
The workers also intend to wear the red armband this week, as well as, to launch a daily strike at the work place for one hour from 10 am to 11. In addition, the workers attached banners at their workplaces denouncing the ministry and the administration’s behaviour. They expressed that they are ready to engage in a qualitative and unprecedented struggle to defend their fair and legitimate rights.
This struggle and protest program come in the context of the call for the amendment of the basic system to be accelerated, and in protest against the unjustified absence of the Ministry’s representatives and the administration from the scheduled meeting to review the basic system, which was considered as an irresponsible behaviour regarding the principles of social dialogue and a revenge towards the agency's workers.
The National Union accused the Minister of Social Development of being responsible of this tension, as a natural result because of the uncertain future of the agency and its employees. It expressed its rejection of all the attempts to exclude it from any discussion that concerns the future of the agency and its workers, as well as its condemnation of the practices that aim at creating uncertainty and ambiguity about the fate of the institution.
The National Union also asked for the revealing of the details of the debate, known as the "project of dissolving the institution" and its assertion that any project that does not consider the Union as a social partner is a rejected project. Moreover, it renewed the call to the Prime Minister to assume its political responsibility in ensuring the implementation of the provisions of the agreement of 27 June, June 2011, especially the amendment of the Basic Law and the protection of social dialogue in the social development sector from the deliberate exclusion by the Ministry and the management of the agency in relation to the issues and social files of this sector.
