The General Federation of Iraqi Workers shared a letter of support and solidarity with the Iraqi teachers 'union in the teachers' strike, launched yesterday (17 February) and ends on Monday.
The head of the General Union, Ali Rahim, expressed in his letter to Abbas Soudani, the teachers’ unionist representor, his support for the legitimate demands "in defence of the teachers’ rights and interests, the amendment of the curriculum, the reconstruction of school buildings, the development of the teachers’ conditions in a way that serves the educational process of our people with its various sections."
The union insisted on the role and status of the Iraqi teachers through the national and educational history in the service of the nation and the people. It also pointed out that the General Union stands firmly with the legitimate demands to contribute to the restoring of the status and role of the Iraq's teachers and to contribute to the building of society aware of social justice and democracy.
