The Palestinian Finance Minister, Shukri Bishara, revealed that the deduction of "Israel" of the clearing funds will have a profound impact on the budget of this year, which will increase the government deficit.
He stressed during a press conference held yesterday that the ministry will deal with the crisis by rationing expenses and abandoning some of them, as well as the rationalization of income, but without raising taxes on citizens.
Regarding the workers’ salaries, the Ministry would treat them wisely and fairly as much as possible, he said: "Of course, there will be sacrifices, and those who will sacrifice are those who have the highest salaries, especially as we want to maintain the lowest salaries, and we will be firm with everyone."
He pointed out that the government will maintain the salaries of retirees 100%, as well as the prisoners, the released and the martyrs’ families by 100%, following the instructions of the presidency, stressing that the salaries of next month will not be affected by the recent "Israeli" measure and that there will be difficulties for the Palestinian people in the coming weeks.
On the other hand, Bishara pointed out that the government will borrow from banks to face the crisis, but this borrowing will be wise.
It is noteworthy that the Palestinian government called on the European Union and asked it to bear full responsibility for the recent Israeli violation of the signed agreements. The government is expected to send a letter to the French president to intervene in this issue, especially since the Paris Economic Agreement was signed in France.
The government also sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to remind the member States of the importance of activating the Arab safety network, which was adopted in the previous Arab summits.
