Following the general strike in the public service, public institutions and territorial groups called by the Democratic Confederation of Labour on February 20, the Executive Office of the Confederacy called on its trade union organizations to strengthen their power to engage vigorously in the regional and local protest rallies scheduled for Sunday.
The Democratic Confederation of Labour asks for a general increase in wages of 600 dirhams ($ 62) for all employees, a reduction in the income tax, a tax exemption for retirees, an increase in the minimum wage by 10 per cent for all the private sector workers, and the provision of a common minimum wage between the industrial, agricultural and services sectors.
The confederation also asks for the return of all the expelled workers, the implementation of the provisions of the Labour Code, the respect for the trade union freedoms and the implementation of the commitments included in the April 26, 2011 agreement (particularly in the area of compensation for remote areas and the creation of a new class for all the concerned groups), as well as the appointment of the workers, who were forced to contract in the basic system of the civil service and the returning of the retirement file to the social dialogue table.
