Northwest regions in Tunisia, almost isolated

Since Thursday evening, heavy snow has been recorded in several Tunisian provinces, disrupting traffic, isolating several cities and suspending schools in several schools.

National Guard spokesman Housseddine Jebabli said a total of 31 roads are blocked due to snow and rain in various parts of the country.

He added that the traffic on the national road number 4 connecting Rouhia and Makthar has been redirected to other roads while the others blocked remain inaccessible.

Jebabli also called on citizens to avoid the national road number 17 linking Jendouba and Kef, the road between Aïn Draham and Jendouba and the national road number 11 and the road linking Kalâat Khasba, Thala and Khemida.

In addition, the governorate of Siliana experienced this Thursday, a special situation in connection with heavy snowfall, heavy rain, and strong gusts of wind.

Several roads are cut, as most localities in the region are deprived of electricity because of bad weather and difficulties of intervention of the repair teams.

Snowfall continues in the Kef governorate and particularly in the region of Sakiet Sidi Youssef almost isolated because of the blockage of most roads leading to the city.
