The Committee for the Defence of the Trade Union Labour Rights of Freedoms expressed its dissatisfaction and astonishment at the behaviour of the officials in the Ministry of Manpower, which showed a deliberate reluctance to meet the representatives of the independent trade union organizations, especially since that a week has passed without the scheduling of this meeting.
This was during the meeting of the committee on Tuesday 22 January, which was attended by trade unionists and labour activists from the sectors of real estate taxes, land transport, as well as, the textile sector and the private sector.
It was agreed in the committee to stop the pressures on the independent trade unions and to enable the newly established trade union organizations to deposit their documents and to settle their situations which was prohibited by the ministry.
The members of the committee discussed also the draft labour law in its latest version, which was amended by the Labour Force Committee in the House of Representatives. They agreed to ask for the periodic allowance for comprehensive wages and also to guarantee the worker's job security, where permanent contract is the basis and the limited contract is only temporary, occasional or seasonal. In addition, taking an individual decision by the employer regarding the layoff of employees should be considered as an arbitrary and illegitimate according to the constitution.
The participants also discussed in detail the conditions of irregular employment in the draft law, and discussed the drivers’ situations, and the absence of their insurance rights.
They also recommended the acceleration in completing the draft amendments to be introduced to the bill, and the addressing to the parties and the political forces, and deputies to adopt them.
