The Jordanian Labour Observatory reported that more than 100 workers working at the Arab Towers Contracting Company (ATCCO) have been deprived of their salaries for two months under the pretext of the regress of work and poor revenues.
The workers confirmed that they did not receive their salaries of December and January until now, and that the salary delay is repeated monthly, and that the institution does not take into account the needs of the workers and their living conditions.
The workers complained to the Directorate of Mafraq after they read the statements of the Minister of Labour in media, in which he said: "The period for delaying salaries should not exceed more than a week, and those whose salaries are delayed should submit a complaint to the Ministry of Labour to take the appropriate measure." The workers emphasize that they had lodged many complaints in the past to the Directorate of Mafraq, but no action was taken against the company.
Article 46 (a) of the Jordanian Labour Law stipulates: "The wage shall be paid within a period that does not exceed seven days from the date of entitlement and the employer shall not deduct any part of it except in the cases permitted by law."
