Last Wednesday, the professors of the Khartoum university launched a protest inside the campus to support the revolutionary movement and ask the authorities to take into consideration the workers’ demands and seek a mechanism for the peaceful transfer of power.
More than 500 university professors gathered and put forward an initiative for a peaceful solution that would call for a transitional authority with specific tasks.
The security and intelligence apparatus had arrested a number of professors last month in Khartoum, who were released later.
The preliminary committee said that "the proposal for the peaceful transfer of power has been widely accepted by all the segments of the Sudanese society." It stressed that the main objective of this gathering is to support the revolutionary movement, listen to the fair demands of the protestors and to seek a mechanism for the peaceful transfer of power.
Following this protest, a press conference was held, in which the professors expressed their views on the peaceful transfer of power in Sudan.
