The Construction & Other Railway Services’ committee (Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles CAF) in Basque, in northern Spain confirmed its refusal to participate in building a train network in the occupied Jerusalem.
The workers' committee said in its statement that "there is a consensus that this project is illegal, in terms of the network route, on the one hand, and because it will be only used by the settlers on the Palestinian territories on the other hand, and that any Tramway lines must respect the principle of Human rights and the international law represented by both the Security Council and the United Nations International Tribunal ".
The occupational government selected the CAF company among the companies participating in the tender. However, the workers' committee refused to participate and to engage in the construction of the train network on a seized land, which is Palestinian, as this is contrary to the international laws.
The Workers 'Union of the Basque province (ELAS) expressed its solidarity with the CAF workers' committee, and expressed its admiration for the factory’s management to refuse the participation in a tender that acts against the international law and which is rejected by the majority of the international community.
