The progressive trade union forces called on all the workers’ representatives to resign from the board of the Social Security Corporation, asking for the restructuring of its board of directors.
According to a statement by the progressive trade union forces, which was held during their meeting on Monday January 21, following the invitation of the National Social Security Campaign, the progressive trade union forces stated the current developments, regarding social security and the resignation of two workers' representatives on the board of the Social Security Institution. They also ask for the dismissal of the NGOs’ representative, in response to the appointment of “Majid Al Hilow" as the general supervisor of the foundation.
The five union forces considered that this is a clear violation of the guarantee law and an infringement to the institutions’ independence, systems of governance, transparency and good governance, which led to the direct interference of the executive authority in the management of the institution.
The components of the progressive trade union forces, namely the Trade Union Front, the Union of Labour Unity, the Progressive Labour Force, the Labour Solidarity Organization and the labour Initiative forces, affirmed the right to social protection and social security and to provide the appropriate proper conditions and procedures to ensure the implementation of this right in a manner that guarantees independence and continuity.
The five unions announced that they will submit an official memorandum to all the workers’ representatives in the board of directors in the security’s institution and invited them to meet together to discuss and take all the required steps.
