The Moroccan Workers’ Union protest against the targeting of the trade union rights and the mass layoff of workers

For 10 days, starting from January 10, and according to the decisions of its National Council on December 27, all the Moroccan Workers’ Union institutions moved locally, regionally, centrally, in protest against the violation of the trade union rights and freedoms, and against the refusal to hand over the deposit receipts and the escalation of attacks on the Moroccan working class’ the gains.

The Moroccan Workers’ Union institutions also organized rallies and protests, raising the red badges to express their anger over the continuing prosecution of the trade unionists under provision 288 of the Criminal Code and the refusal to ratify the ILO Convention 87 on the freedom of association and the non-implementation of the labour sentences.

The trade union institutions protested massively against the discriminatory government’s offer in the social dialogue, the continued mass expulsion of workers and the dismissal of the trade unionists belonging to the Moroccan Workers’ Union.

The frequent slogans raised during the various protests were: "Stop violating the trade union rights", "Stop the layoff of the trade union representatives", " The law will not pass to chain us from enjoying our right to strike", "Stop disrupting the mechanisms of social dialogue."
