The Yemeni Journalists' Syndicate reported that 10 journalists were killed in 2018 among the numerous violations committed by the different parties of the conflict in the country for the fourth consecutive year.
The syndicate stated in its report that it had identified 226 cases of violation since the beginning of 2018, which affected the journalists, photographers, newspapers, websites, headquarters and media properties, accusing the Houthi group of committing the majority of these violations, which carried out 136 cases of violation.
On the other hand, military and local security bodies, belonging to the Yemeni government committed 68 cases, while the Arab coalition, led by the Saudi Arabia committed 11 cases, while the rest were committed by unknown persons. Thus, the southerners asked for the separation of the south of Yemen from the north, according to the report.
The violations ranged from killing, kidnapping, arrest, assaults, trials and torture, as well as the confiscation of journalists' belongings, threats, incitement campaigns and attempted murders.
The syndicate mentioned that it has monitored 10 murders of journalists, including photographers and media workers, where five cases were committed by the alliance, three by the Houthis, and two others by unknown people.
