Libya / Tobruk: 3000 irregular migrants were deported last year

The official spokesman of the anti-immigration agency in Tobruk revealed the number of deportees among the irregular migrants through the port of "Amsaad”, last year.

He said in a media statement that about 3000 irregular migrants of different nationalities were deported through the port. He added that migrants prefer to enter Libya in the winter to work inside the country and collect funds. In the summer, migrants try to migrate to Europe via the Libyan shores.

The spokesman added that the arrested African migrants were deported through the General Directorate of the Immigration Control Agency in the city of Al-Bayda and the International Organization for Migration through the airports of "Benina" and "Al-Abraq", pointing out that the adventure of migrants usually ends in disaster or tragedy, as they are subject to be abandoned in the desert by smugglers or caught by the army forces, which lead to their death by starvation and thirst.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian government warned its citizens about entering Libya without formal procedures as there are large numbers of missing Egyptian migrants in the Libyan desert.
