A car march by CDT in Tangier to ask for the protection of the trade union right and the improvement of the Moroccans’ living conditions

Following the Democratic Confederation of Labour’s (CTD) call, mass rallies were organized in the city of Tangier, yesterday, to protest against the violation of the trade union rights and the targeting of workers and the trade unionists, and to protest against the government's non-submission of any proposal to ease the social pressure on workers.

The Democratic Confederation of Labour asks for the implementation of the agreement of 26 April 2011 and the need to meet all the workers’ demands, including the increase in wages and compensation, the increase in the minimum wage in the agricultural, industrial and service sectors, as well as, the review of the income tax with the exemption of the retirees and the respect for the trade union freedoms.

The trade union sources accuse the government of “Saad Al-Din Othmani” of not proposing an offer that would meet the workers and employees’ ambitions, stressing that there is no trade union willingness to give up on the proposal, which was already introduced by the union body, months ago.

It is noteworthy that the Morocco's trade union centres withdrew from the social dialogue sessions on the grounds that there was no new proposal to improve the workers and employees’ situation. Moreover, they blamed the government of the deterioration of the social situation of many citizens, who are looking for the improvement of their social conditions.
