The Central Union of Tunisian Workers' Union decided to give the government another chance to come up with a good proposal that would meet their demands, tomorrow, according to Hfaidh Hafaidh, the Assistant Secretary-General in charge of Legal Affairs of the Union.
Meanwhile, the preparations for the general strike scheduled for 17 January are continuing with massive labour gatherings in almost all the Tunisian provinces, by the leadership of the Tunisian General Labour Union.
It is noteworthy that the government party had submitted a proposal last week on the increase of the public sector salaries between 70 and 130 dinars (24 and 45 dollars) by categories, which was considered as ineffective, as it does not meet their aspirations and expectations of the union and the 650 000 public employees.
