The Tunisian government has introduced a wage increase that has not met the expectations of hundreds of thousands of public workers

Sami Al-Tahri, a leader in the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), said that the government's proposal to increase the wages of the public sector employees is one-third of the increase in the public employees' salaries previously.

Al-Tahri said in statements that this indicates the lack of responsibility and seriousness and disregard of the government as represented by the strike of January 17, 2019 and its economic and social consequences.

It is noteworthy that the negotiations between the government and the Tunisian General Labour Union are expected to be resumed in the coming hours.
