The Iraqi Teachers' Union rejected the use of schools for political goals. It stated in a statement issued Thursday that it is against the involvement of students in practices that have nothing to do with education and the use of schools and students for political and partisan purposes.
The union pointed out that it warned of the apparent failure in the performance of the Ministry of Education at all levels of education, especially regarding the curricula and the failure of training the teachers and supplies and the recruitment of graduates, adding that it shares the students’ opinion on the difficulty of the curriculum, provided by the ministry, stressing the sanctity of school and classroom.
The union also asked for the removal of the Ministry of Education from the quota system and asked for the expulsion of the officials who contributed to the failure of the ministry, stressing that it will continue to follow its objectives to obtain the rights of teachers in housing, raise their standard of living and health insurance. Moreover, it stressed that it will support all the legitimate demands that would achieve the ambitions of the families and students and serve the progress of the educational process.
