The National Independent Syndicate of Electricity and Gas Workers (SNATEG), the National Syndicate of Energy Workers (SNT ENERGIE) and the National Syndicate of Industries sector (SNSI) denounced the situation of the expelled trade unionists of “Sonelgaz”, who have been so far without any legal procedures to return them to their positions for more than two years.
The three unions confirmed in a joint statement that the Ministry of Labour contributed to a large part in the impoverishment of the trade unionists’ families using the policy of starvation and intimidation and imposing the status quo in order to intimidate the workers of the company and keep them away from their concerns.
The trade unions pointed out that the expelled trade unionists of the “Sonelgaz” company number amounted to 11 unionists, who are asking the presidency and the government to immediately intervene to obligate the company’s administration and the minister of labour to respect the decisions of the International Labour Organization and to integrate them into their jobs with their unconditional compensation or procrastination. They expressed that that the expelled trade unionists adhere to the struggle and protest in the capital against the injustice and that they will not retreat regardless of the threats, whether imprisonment, death threat or other.
The three unions called on the workers of "Sonelgaz" to unite, in solidarity for the restoration of the workers’ rights and "to prepare for an open strike to ask for the dignity that was forcibly taken away by the enemies of the workers."
