The bus drivers in the city of Mukalla have been on strike since last week, in protest against the new tariffs that were approved by the Ministry of Transport.
The protesters described the new tariffs as disproportionate, as they did not cope with the amount of fuel they are losing.
A group of bus drivers confirmed that the new tariffs are violating their rights, especially with the increase in the spare parts and oils prices in the local market, stressing that their halt on working will continue until the review of the mobility prices to suit their requirements without harming the citizen.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Transport issued a few days ago an amendment to the mobility between the regions’ fees, in line with the decline in the value of fuel prices.
