The Eastern Company for Tobacco employees have been on strike since Sunday to protest against the reduction in the profit renumeration, after the administration’s cut of their earnings of last year to just 20 months instead of 23 months.
The media sources confirmed that the company's profits rose by 44.8% last year to reach LE 4.2 billion compared to LE 2.9 billion of the previous fiscal year, supported by an increase of sales to LE 13.4 billion, compared to LE 10.5 billion in the previous year, an increase of 27.2 %.
