The administration of “Africa Light” and “Shams” Hotel in “Beni Mellal” signed a collective expulsion order for the union offices of the two institutions affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CTD) and the dismissal of all workers.
Trade union sources from the two union offices said that the officials refused to meet all the basic demands of the workers’ representatives, namely the respect for the trade union freedoms, the guarantee of social rights and gains, and the suspension of all forms of abuse and harassment.
The same sources revealed that the officials of the two institutions explicitly expressed their refusal to meet the workers’ demands, and their unwillingness to have a trade union organization with their company. This position was strongly condemned by the members of the trade union offices and declared their adherence to all the rights stipulated in the Labour Code. In the same context, they asked for holding a serious and responsible dialogue with the workers’ representatives, in order to overcome all these disputes.
In protest against the decision of “Africa Light” and “Shams” Hotel administrations to expel the trade unionists and the mass layoff of workers, the latter launched an open strike, which will be followed by a trade union movement in the coming days, as an escalatory step in case of the non-intervention of the local authorities to find an immediate solution.
