The head of the National Authority against Trafficking in Human Beings, “Rawdha Al-Abidi”, revealed that the number of human trafficking cases in 2017 exceeded 742 cases, 70% of which are children along with 100 foreigners.
In a statement to the Tunisian news agency (TAP), “Al-Abidi” expressed her regret regarding the non-allocation of a budget to the authority, calling on the government it to intervene and finance it to be able to complete its projects and achieve its objectives of ensuring this vulnerable group of victims of trafficking.
She explained that the victims of trafficking in human beings suffered from economic and sexual exploitation and during working as domestic workers.
