The Kuwait Trade Union Federation asks the private sector workers to enjoy the exceptional rest days

The head of the Kuwait Trade Union Federation, Salem Al-Ajmi, called on the Council of Ministers to equalize private sector employees with government employees regarding the exceptional rest days issued by the Council of Ministers due to emergency situations such as heavy rain and other natural disasters, and not to marginalize or ignore workers in this vital and important sector. He also called on the non-deprivation of private workers of holidays and rest days determined by the state.

Al-Ajmi said in a media statement that the exclusion of the private sector employees from the rest days issued by the Council of Ministers contravenes the government's approach to support the private sector, which has a significant and important role in development and progress, adding that the exclusion of the private sector from the decisions issued by the state on workers is surprising and contravenes the simplest rules of rights and justice.

In addition, the non-compensation of workers in the private sector for working during the rest days decided by the state requires the reconsideration of the legislation of private sector workers in order to be fair and equal with their counterparts in the public sector.
